Bwthyn Ni/ Our House
Our history starts back in the 1840's when the Oakeley Family, the richest family in the area, took over the Tan Y Bwlch estate.
The family purchased much of the land of Maentwrog and built our wonderful Hilltop Cottage along with another 3 houses. Hilltop was renovated in the 1960's when the additional 2 house fell into disrepair.
Our family started renting the property back in the 1960's before it was purchased by us in 1970.
Then in 2001 when we acquired the land of the additional 2 houses, Hilltop Cottage was extended, modernised and renovated once again. This is the Hilltop Cottage you will see today.
The property has recently been decorated throughout once again in 2018.
The house is very spacious and comfortable with a modern look and feel, yet it still maintains a traditional country cottage feel.
The slate and stone exterior demonstrates the Welsh heritage with all the materials sourced from the local Slate Mines in Gloddfa Ganol or Llechwedd Slate Caverns.
The property sits in approx. 1/4 of an acre of land and is surrounded by trees and bushes. It is incredibly peaceful and tranquil with little traffic and plenty of wild life.
Guests can access the large terrace area which has outdoor seating and table as well as a swinging hammock.
There is ample parking for up to 5 cars at the property. 2 to 3 to the side of the house as you drive past the house and an additional 2 or 3 at a push by the gate, also on the drive.
